BOOS ("we," "our," or "us") is a community app for the Persian diaspora. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

When you use BOOS, we collect the following types of information:

• Account information: Your email address and password (stored securely via Supabase Auth).
• Profile information: Your first name, date of birth, gender, photos, city of origin, current city, country, bio, and interests — all provided voluntarily by you.
• Location: Approximate (coarse) location, used only to show you nearby users. We do not store your precise GPS coordinates on our servers.
• Photos: Profile photos you upload, stored securely in our cloud storage.
• Usage data: Swipes, matches, and messages — used to operate the app's core features.
• Push notification token: A device token used to send you match and message notifications. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Display your profile to other users for matching purposes
• Show you profiles of other users in your area or community
• Send push notifications about matches and messages
• Respond to your support requests
• Detect and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity
• Improve the app's features and performance

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

3. How We Share Your Information

Your profile information (name, photos, age, location, bio) is visible to other BOOS users as part of the app's matching functionality. You control what you share in your profile.

We use the following third-party services to operate BOOS:

• Supabase – database, authentication, and file storage
• Expo / Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) – push notifications

These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies.

4. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your profile data, photos, and associated records within 30 days.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt out of push notifications at any time via your device settings

6. Children's Privacy

BOOS is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete their account.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access-controlled storage to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
